The artistic and social foundation La Familia Ayara is an organization of young Afro-Colombians and mixed-race Colombians that carries out social, artistic, educational and productive activities based on the Hip Hop culture, with the objective of improving the life opportunities of children and young people and encouraging their citizen participation to reclaim their rights. Since the beginning in 1996, the Ayara Family has been working with the disciplines of Hip Hop and urban art, such as breakdance, graffiti, rap, DJ, theater, capoeira, producing apparel and media, to help build society.
WE HAVE DEVELOPED FOUR TEACHING METHODS: - High Impact Training Methodology: Consisting of artistic and social (psychological) orientation workshops, we train young Colombians in leadership, political advocacy, and labor entrepreneurship to create alternatives to violence and social exclusion. - Rap Debate Methodology: A method for the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue. - Cartonera Methodology: method of literacy and the democratization of literature. - Methodology for strengthening the human resources of organizations with pedagogical and recreational material. We developed a Youth Observatory of Good Practices, dedicated to the documentation, multiplication and strengthening of youth initiatives that use art and culture for the construction of peace and participatory democracy. We also carry out audiovisual campaigns linking the best Hip Hop artists to sensitize young people on issues that affect their lives. Within the framework of our mission to empower children and adolescents so that they may be the generators of change, the builders of a fairer, more equal and peaceful world, we work for the prevention and overall protection of early childhood, childhood and adolescence. |
